Advisory 91: Online Scam on Au Bon Marche Customers
Release Date: 8th of July 2025
Impact : HIGH / CRITICAL
TLP Rating: Clear
The Department of Communications and Digital Transformation (DCDT), through CERT Vanuatu (CERTVU), issues this advisory to alert the public about an online scam targeting Au Bon Marche customers via social media.
What is it?
On 8 July 2025, CERTVU received multiple reports of a fraudulent video advertisement circulating on Facebook in Vanuatu. The scam falsely claims that Au Bon Marche is rewarding customers aged 40–44 and prompts users to click on a link resembling the official Au Bon Marche website (AUBONMARCHE.CO). This link redirects users to a malicious site where they are asked to provide personal information under the pretense of receiving a gift card. Below is what the video looks like.
Who Is at Risk?
All internet users, especially those using Facebook for communication and entertainment.
CERTVU Findings
-
The video advertisement is not from Au Bon Marche. The company has released a public notice on its official Facebook page warning customers about the scam.
- The link in the message does not lead to the official Au Bon Marché website. Instead, it redirects to a malicious site (e.g., https://luckycardwin.com) designed to steal personal information and facilitate criminal activities.
- Clicking the link and submitting information exposes users to further exploitation and potential financial loss
Recommended Actions
- Do not click on the suspicious link or share the scam message with others.
- If you have already clicked the link, do not enter any personal information on the site.
- Immediately reset passwords for all your online accounts, especially online banking and other sensitive services.
- Verify the authenticity of any online promotions or messages by contacting the organization directly before clicking links or sharing information.
- If you need assistance or believe you have been affected, contact CERTVU promptly.
Stay vigilant and help protect your community by reporting suspicious online activities to CERTVU.
